Burnt Clay Perforated bricks IS 2222
Burnt Clay Perforated bricks have cylindrical holes in thickness, Perforated bricks have high corrosive strength and low water absorption. These bricks are light in weight, require a small amount of clay to make, and are easy to dry and burn, and are also economical.
The direction of perforations can be vertical or horizontal. These bricks are used in building walls and partitions.
The area of perforations should not exceed 30 to 45% of the area of face. In case of rectangular perforations, larger dimensions should be parallel to longer side of the brick.
Dimensions
These are available in the following sizes.
- 19 × 9 × 9 cm (Modular)
- 23 × 11 × 7 cm (Non-modular)
Dimensions Tolerance
Dimension (cm) | Tolerance (mm) |
9,7 | ± 4 |
19,11 | ± 7 |
23 | ± 10 |
Perforations
- Dimension of perforation parallel to short side should not be more than 20 mm in rectangular projection and 25 mm circular projection.
- Area of each perforation should not exceed 500 mm².
- The thickness of any shell shall not be less than 15 mm and that of any web not less than 10 mm.
Compressive Strength
Compressive Strength should not be less than 7.0 N/mm².
Water absorption
Water absorption should not be more than per cent.
